William Bill Sabo is currently a sitting member of the Boards of the Monterey Peninsula Airport
District, the Transportation Agency of Monterey County, and the
Monterey County Airport Land Use Commission.
Bill has announced his candidacy for his Airport Board
seat in the November 4, 2008 General Election.
Bill came to the Monterey Peninsula in 1992. Originally
from Michigan, Bill attended Michigan State University for his Bachelor
and Masters studies in Business and Finance.
He has over 40 years experience in aviation as a
general aviation, U.S. Air Force, and commercial airline pilot with
Eastern Airlines. He served as a combat pilot in Viet Nam and later on the staff of the Air Force Chief of
Staff. He was highly decorated for his service, receiving four Distinguished Flying Crosses and seventeen Air Medals.
He also has twenty five years experience in business as
a Principal Consultant with Ernst & Young, a Senior Vice President of
First Federal Bank of Hawaii, CEO of a 100 employee firm in San Francisco
and President of his own consulting company, Air Safety International.
In addition to his current Monterey government board positions, Bill has previously been an
appointed member of the Citizens Advisory Committee on Transportation.
In his current position on the Monterey Peninsula Airport Board, Bill sees our airport as
an extremely vital and critical resource. The Monterey Peninsula Airport
brings visitors and jobs to our community and provides convenient air
travel access to our residents.
He also believes the Monterey Peninsula Airport can be
a regional resource for the Northern Central Coast. Bill encourages all of
us to support our airport and "FLY MONTEREY".
In addition to his community service and business activities Bill remains an active pilot,
flying with the Monterey Navy Flying Club in the T-34 Mentor. He is also an avid Scooter Guy riding with the Vespa Club of Monterey.
